We'll admit it, Louisiana has many cities and towns that are hard to pronounce.

One of my favorite bits is when those who aren't from Louisiana attempt to pronounce some of the names of cities or towns here. It never ends well.

Well, according to 24/7 Walll St one small Louisiana town makes the list of towns hardest to pronounce in the country!

Because of the huge French influence in South Louisiana, many towns and even some small cities have names influenced by settlers, thus giving those not from here a difficult time to correctly pronounce the name of the municipality.

So, what town in Louisiana ranks in the top 10 of the most mispronounced towns in America? Well, that would belong to a small remote town with a population of just  2,557.

The isolated town is deep down the bayou and is located in St. Charles Parish. And yes, it is surrounded by waterways.

Oh, and this small community does host its own Christmas parade with boats lit up in Christmas light.

That small town that gives so many a difficult time to correctly pronounce it is none other than "Bayou Gauche." The correct way to pronounce it is “bi-YOU” or “bi-OH gosh.”

While this small fishing village may be difficult to pronounce, I can think of a few more here in Louisiana that are difficult to pronounce.

Still, Bayou Gauche is the only town or city in Louisiana that makes the list of places most difficult to pronounce in America.

Now, let's watch some people attempt to pronounce other towns in Louisiana. I think you'll enjoy this one, and may even want to share this with others on social media. Enjoy.
