Louisiana Cell Phone Users Can Block Spam Calls With Simple Steps
(Lafayette, Louisiana) - If you are tired of getting spam calls like I am, there are a few steps you can take to eliminate the unwanted calls on your cell phone.
I can't speak for you, but in recent weeks the number of spam calls coming to my cell phone seems to have multiplied, and I am tired of receiving these calls
So, I recently looked up ways to stop these unwanted calls, and it is a lot simpler than you may think. And before I go any further, let me applaud many of the cell phone services that do notify us when a potential spam call is coming through.
Ways to Block Spam Calls
We will start by registering your phone number on the National Do Not Call Registry. This service is free, and it does not take very long. Disclaimer: While this may eliminate telemarketing calls for you, you may still receive calls from charities, political groups, debt collectors, and surveys.
Once you register your cell number, you do not have to register it again. Telemarketers have 31 days to stop calling you, and if they don't, you can report the numbers on the website where you submitted your contact information.
In addition to adding your number to the National Do Not Call List, another way to stop or block these unwanted calls on your cell phone is to go into your phone settings and activate certain features. For example, on an iPhone, you go into your settings and turn on Silence Unknown Calls.
If you have an Android, go into your settings by tapping the three dots and select Caller ID & Spam, then turn on filter spam calls or block numbers from unknown/private calls. These few steps only take a few seconds, and they can help you filter out the unwanted calls that seem to be coming in every day.

Apps to Block Unwanted Calls
If you wish to add another layer of protection from unwanted telemarketing calls, you can also download carrier apps that further assist you. A friend of mine recently downloaded the app AT&T provides, and he swears by it.
In your app store, you can download your specific mobile provider's free security app (such as AT&T ActiveArmor, Verizon Call Filter, or T-Mobile Scam Shield) to intercept robocalls at the network level.
Lastly, if you do see a Spam Call coming in, you may want to simply ignore it and not answer the call. Some people enjoy harassing those calling; however, that may only lead to more calls, so if you are serious about eliminating unwanted calls, ignore those that may be coming through.
I hope this helps you get some peace and quiet, as my phone has been ringing a lot more than usual due to unwanted telemarketing calls, and now I am about to take some of the steps highlighted above. #FingersCrossed
