The trip carried a price tag of almost $40,000, with the expense covered by the Tiger Athletic Foundation, the private nonprofit organization that raises money to support LSU Athletics.

According to totalprosports.com, the records do not specify exactly when the vacation took place or how many hours of Kiffin's travel allowance were used for the flight, and LSU officials have also declined to provide additional details.

The Private Jet Benefit Is Part Of Kiffin's Contract

Although the headline has generated criticism online, the private jet usage was not hidden or unauthorized.

Kiffin's seven-year contract reportedly includes 65 hours of personal private air travel each year, a benefit that is traditionally uncommon at LSU as reported by the lailluminator.com.

The same disclosure documents show the Tiger Athletic Foundation also paid for roughly $65,000 in additional private flights tied to recruiting trips and other football-related business during the first few months of 2026. Those trips were classified as official university business and not personal travel.
