One of the first questions people ask about the Louisiana Lottery is this. "If I win, can I remain anonymous"? The answer to that question according to the Louisiana Lottery is "yes but no". It's a complicated scenario that two Louisiana residents could be contemplating today after details of their big win on Saturday were revealed on the Louisiana Lottery's X (formerly Twitter) account.

The tickets in question are from Saturday night's drawing. The drawings that were held that night, February 24, 2024, included Powerball, Lotto, and Easy 5. There was no big winner in the Powerball game, that jackpot will now be an estimated $412 million when the ping pong balls drop at 10 tonight.

There was also no big winner in Saturday's Lotto drawing. The top prize in that game was an estimated $650,000 but no tickets sold in Louisiana matched the numbers needed to claim that prize. Lotto had gotten a winner on the last day of January for a jackpot total of $2.52 million. And we are happy to report that the ticket was finally redeemed.

So you've probably deduced that since there was no big winner in Powerball or Lotto the big tickets from Saturday must be from the Easy 5 game. You are correct in that assumption. The Louisiana Lottery has now revealed where the big-money winners were sold.

One of the winning tickets was sold in Slidell, Louisiana at a Circle K store there. We have learned from the Louisiana Lottery that the ticket purchaser has already redeemed their share of the $200,000 prize.

The second winning ticket has not been claimed. It was sold in New Iberia at Spanish Lake Truck & Casino. That ticket, along with the Slidell winner, is valued at $106,947.00. That's how much the money worked out to be after it was split. And as you can see by the math the actual jackpot for Easy 5 on Saturday was a little bit more than $200,000.

Opelousas Powerball Winner Will Expire In Just Over 30 Days

Speaking of unclaimed winnings, there is a Powerball winner from October 9, 2023. That ticket was sold in Opelousas at the Piggly Wiggly Store on Highway 182. The ticket is valued at $50,000 and will expire officially on April 6, 2024.

Can You Remain Anonymous if You Win Big in the Louisiana Lottery?

As we mentioned earlier in this article the answer is "yes but no". The Louisiana Lottery will not publicize you as a winner if you choose not to be included in their promotional material. However, because any payout over $600 must be reported to the state, your winnings would have to be reported as part of the public record.

So, while technically no one is identifying you as a lottery winner a smart individual who knows where to look could figure it out. It's funny how most of us have already played out that scenario in our minds even before we've played the games.
