Popular TikTok food critic Rashad Moore, better known as Mr. Chime Time, has been touring Louisiana since May, sampling restaurants from New Orleans to Lafayette. His first visit to the Crescent City left him unimpressed, prompting locals to insist he try again; this time, hitting “the right spots.”

Standout Stops on Round Two

On his return, Moore gave high marks to Morrow’s in Marigny, praising the gumbo filé, fried catfish, and red beans and rice, rating it an 8.5.

He also enjoyed the generous portions at Key’s Food Store, a neighborhood convenience store where he accidentally ordered in bulk, calling it “really, really good” and giving it an 8.3.

But his biggest praise went to Gonzo’s Smokehouse & BBQ in Luling, open only two days a week.

He rated it a 9.6, calling it the closest you can get to Texas barbecue, “maybe even better.”

Not Every Bite Was a Win

Moore’s visit to Monday NOLA, also owned by Larry Morrow, didn’t score as high.

While he enjoyed the red beans and sausage, he described the $40 lamb chops as bland and underwhelming.

Lafayette and the 337 Still Holds the Crown

Despite the improvement, Moore says New Orleans hasn’t overtaken Lafayette and the 337 area in his rankings.

He still considers Lafayette a top three food city in America, alongside Detroit and New York City.

The big question now: Will the rest of his NOLA stops before leaving Louisiana finally change his mind?
