Modern takes on the classic Hanna-Barbera toons have had trouble getting off the ground, but The Jetsons may literally rise above. Reports indicate a new live-action version of the far-out future family is gearing up for Warner Bros., executive produced by someone with a little Future experience.

According to TVLine, Family Guy alum Gary Gannetti will helm a new multi-cam adaptation of The Jetsons, executive producing alongside Back to the Future boss Robert Zemeckis and Jack Rapke. Warner Bros. will begin shopping the series to broadcast and cable networks in the next few weeks.

The new series will apparently be set one-hundred years into the future, 3018, compared to the 2062 of the original animated series (does anyone remember that ever coming up?). The project is also considered independent of an animated Jetsons movie that Warner Bros. is also trying to get off the ground.

Warner Bros. had nothing to say of the project in question (their TV department is admittedly busy for the next few weeks), but could a live-action Jetsons work? Stay tuned for the latest.
