Johnny Cace's Seafood & Steak House in Longview has been serving seafood delights and mouth-watering steaks to East Texans since 1949, but they'll be handing out their final plates from the legendary kitchen on Saturday. The announcement was made in January the Longview landmark would be closing its doors on March 28, partly due to the passing of Gerard Cace. Owner Cathy Cace made the heart-wrenching decision after a lot of prayer. Her husband had been the backbone of the business for quite a few years, but there were other factors that made the decision a little easier for her.

Throughout the past 66 years, Johnny Cace's has served countless East Texans and visitors alike. They've dined on seafood, gumbo, etouffee, steaks and homemade desserts.

Their final meal will be served Saturday evening, so now is your chance to get some of that great food from an East Texas landmark before they say goodbye! I'd suggest you call ahead and try to make reservations for tonight, because you know they'll be packed Friday and Saturday.

The restaurant is at 1501 E. Marshall Ave. in Longview, and you can call to try to make those reservations at 903-753-7691.

The restaurant celebrated its 66th anniversary in Longview on March 10, and recently received a Texas historical marker out front.

We wish Cathy Cace the best as she moves on after the restaurant business and thank her, too, for sharing such great food from her husband Gerard and Johnny Cace's Seafood and Steak House.

Also thanks to the other family members and staff for giving a lot of East Texans tons of great memories.
