Kelly Clarkson to Release Second ‘River Rose’ Children’s Book
Kelly Clarkson will release another children's book in October. River Rose and the Magical Christmas will be the second installment in the singer's book series starring her daughter, River Rose.
Clarkson revealed her plans for River Rose and the Magical Christmas on Wednesday (June 28), via a video posted to social media. The clip finds Clarkson in a pretend press conference about the book's release; River Rose is supposed to be there, too, but she's running late (and adorably so).
"The real River Rose ... she loves Christmas," Clarkson says in the clip, noting that she's excited for her daughter, who's now three years old, to get to read the book. "She's at such a fun age ... It's a fun time for kids and Christmas, and she just gets so excited about it."
River Rose and the Magical Christmas is due out on Oct. 24, but it's available for pre-order now. The book follows 2016's River Rose and the Magical Lullaby; to accompany that book, Clarkson penned a lullaby, but for River Rose and the Magical Christmas, she wrote a full song.
"We thought it would be more fun, since it's a Christmas book, that I could write, like, a full song that could have been, like, on my Christmas album," Clarkson explains. The song is called "Christmas Eve," Clarkson says, and it's a celebratory song, from the perspective of Santa's elves.
River Rose turned three in June. She's a big sister to Remington Alexander, Clarkson and husband Brandon Blackstock's son, who was born in April of 2016. The couple met at the 2012 Super Bowl, got engaged later that year and got married in October of 2013.
In June of 2016, Clarkson announced a new record, to be released this year, on her new label home, Atlantic Records. The disc will be a soul- and R&B-influenced album, but in early 2015, Clarkson told Time magazine that while she was working on her latest project, Piece By Piece, she was also working on a country record. No further details about the project are available.
In May, Clarkson -- the first winner of American Idol -- announced that she will be a coach during Season 14 of The Voice; that season will start in 2018.
