For whatever reason, fast food chains across America are taking some big swings and debuting some interesting new menu items. Recently, Burger King released the meatless "Impossible Whopper" and Popeye's caused mass hysteria with their Chicken Sandwich.

Now, it seems that KFC is getting in on the action. It came out today that KFC is testing out a "meatless fried chicken". KFC's  "Beyond Fried Chicken" - a plant based fried "chicken" - will be available in nuggets and boneless wings in select test markets. If the meal does well, it will be released at stores across the country.

"KFC Beyond Fried Chicken is so delicious, our customers will find it difficult to tell that it's plant-based," said Kevin Hochman, president and chief concept officer.

Is the "fast food war" getting out of control? Are these places starting to go "a bit too far"? I guess only time will tell. But it would seem that everyone is getting in on the action.
