There has been a heated battle in the courts of Baton Rouge between Governor Edwards, House Republicans, and Attorney General Jeff Landry.

State District Judge William Morvant sent a blow to Governor Edwards' opposition yesterday by refusing to issue a temporary restraining order that would stop the Governor from extending the state's COVID-19 restrictions that expire tomorrow. Judge Morvant set a trial date of November 12 to hear arguments from both sides over the restrictions.

Landry and House Republicans will be asking the judge to terminate the state's public health emergency. Gov. Edwards is set to hold a press conference today to update residents on the state's COVID-19 restrictions.
