A general lack of employees is cause for concern for many of our local businesses. One of our favorites just had to make a change to their hours to make up for it.

I certainly hate to see this as Smitty's Pizza has the best pizza in town, and has been one of my favorite local restaurants since I was a kid. I spent most of my life as a kid in Shreveport growing up on Mansfield road, so you can imagine how many nights were Smitty's nights for our family.

Smitty's Pizza first arrived and brought their iconic brick-oven pizza to Shreveport in 1995. They have endured a lot over the past two and a half decades, including the worst pandemic any of us will most-likely ever experience in our life time, yet here they are, still providing Shreveport-Bossier with their iconic pizza.

Now, they need our help. For the foreseeable future, Smitty's Pizza has announced a change to their hours. In the past, you could find Smitty's Pizza open beginning around lunchtime seven days a week. Unfortunately, Smitty's Pizza has now been forced to reduce hours substantially, in order to give their slim staff a much-deserved break. In their announcement, they apologized and stated they simply couldn't continue to ask their staff to work constantly with no days off.

The restaurant's new hours will be Tuesday through Thursday from 4:00 PM - 10:00 PM, Friday and Saturday from 11:00 AM - 10:00 PM, and Sunday from 11:00 AM - 9:00 PM.

Hopefully this news will lead to potential employees making their way to Smitty's in the near-future to apply for a job. According to their Facebook, you can apply in-person at the restaurant any day they are open after 4:00 PM.

Once again because of not having enough employees, we are changing our hours until further notice. Remember these hours...
