The National Weather Service in Shreveport is keeping a close eye on a weather front that could bring some damaging storms to our area as early as tomorrow evening.

In a Hazardous Weather Outlook issued by the NWS for south central Arkansas, southwest Arkansas, north central Louisiana, northwest Louisiana, southeast Oklahoma, east Texas and northeast Texas, forecasters warn that thunderstorms will move into the area today ahead of a strong upper level trough.

As the front begins to approach our area today, the Shreveport area will be hit with extreme winds.

In fact, the NWS has already issued a Wind Advisory that will run today from 6:00 am until 6:00 pm. You might be well advised to hold on to your Valentine tightly as forecasters are calling for increasing wind speeds today up to around 25 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 35 miles per hour.

As the front centers itself over the region late tomorrow afternoon into Thursday morning, the National Weather Service says our major threat is for possible damaging winds with speeds up to 60 miles per hour.

There is also a slight risk of quarter sized hail and isolated minor flooding of low-lying and poor drainage areas is possible.
