Just the words "student loans" are enough to keep you up at night, but Louisiana is at least getting some sleep.

I'm extremely fortunate to have had parents who helped me pay for college. Don't get me wrong, they didn't give me a full ride, but they helped with a lot of the burden. I did take out some student loans on my own and I am still paying those off. Despite missing some money in my paycheck, it's good to know that my debt could have been worse in states like Ohio, Mississippi or Pennsylvania.

According to WalletHub, these states have the highest amount of student debt.

They ranked all of the states against one another on their list of Best and Worst States for Student Debt. The higher your state landed on the list, the more debt you're likely paying off. The lower you are on the list, the better your bank account is looking right about now.

This is fairly good news for Louisiana

We came in at number 38 on this list, meaning that we're not the best when it comes to student debt, but we are a far cry from the worst. In fact, we ranked number three when you look at those states with the best opportunities for grants and student work.

To sum it all up, staying in Louisiana to get your degree and building a career here after college ain't too shabby!
