In case you didn't know it, throwing a bag full of puppies over a bridge to their watery deaths doesn't just prove you are a heartless scumbag - it's also against the law.  That's the stunning realization that 55-old Gary James Goulas from Breaux Bridge came to this weekend.

Last weekend, a witness reported seeing a small bag being tossed out of Goulas truck around 2 pm as he paused over a bridge close to Potato Shed Road in Henderson.  The unnamed witness just happened to be fishing in the bayou under the bridge, and reportedly recovered the bag only to discover that it had 8 tiny black lab puppies in it.  Luckily, they were all found alive!

This nameless hero brought his catch to the Human Society, who in turn placed them with the Precious Paw Prints Animal Rescue in Acadia Parish, who transferred them to Every Paw Animal Rescue.  The litter was estimated to be between three and five days old.

According to the Advocate's report, the pups are now in the loving care of a group of volunteers who are taking shifts to bottle feed them.  Thankfully, they will get a chance to find a home instead of meeting their fate in the Bayou.

After a short and through investigation, authorities with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office were able to track down Goulas.  He was arrested and charged with eight counts of aggravated cruelty to animals.
