Barksdale Air Force Base announced back in July that they will skip 2018 for the Airshow continuing in 2019 and every odd year after that. The decision was made based on the amount of money and man hours that went into the show. Barksdale said a total of 46,000 man hours go into putting the Airshow together.

Since 1932 the Barksdale Airshow has been a staple in the Shreveport Bossier area and Congressman Mike Johnson and Senator John Kennedy joined with Rep. Abraham want to make sure that continues. They wrote a letter to the Air Force asking them to reconsider skipping the even years for the show because of the financial impact on the area as well as the impact on younger generations seeing it.  We will have to wait and see what the response is from the Air Force.
