A Vernon Parish mother who worked in a clerical position at a doctor's office is facing charges this morning. Deputies with the Vernon Parish Sheriff's office allege that Belinda Gail Fondren was writing school excuse notes and then selling those notes to students so they could avoid an unexcused absence.

According to reports, Fondren would sell the excuses for $20 apiece. Deputies say the Fondren's "services" were common knowledge among students at Evans High School. In fact, two students allegedly purchased excuse notes on 14 separate occasions.

Fondren was charged with filing or maintaining false public records. Bond for Fondren was set at $15,000.
