Millions of Americans are traveling over this Memorial Day weekend and most are driving to their destination.
One of the primary reasons for the high number this year is the low price of fuel. In Shreveport Bossier, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $2.06. The lowest price is at $1.89.

AAA projects more than 38 million Americans will hit the road this Memorial Day weekend. How does this year stack up? This will be the second-highest Memorial Day travel volume on record and the most since 2005.

“Americans are eagerly awaiting the start of summer and are ready to travel in numbers not seen in more than a decade,” said Marshall Doney, AAA President and CEO. “The great American road trip is officially back thanks to low gas prices, and millions of people from coast to coast are ready to kick off summer with a Memorial Day getaway.”
