LSU President Says Budget Cuts Too Costly
With higher education already facing 27 million dollars in budget cuts and more expected soon, LSU President F. King Alexander took his case before the House Education Committee to explain just how devastating these cuts were to students, educators and the state overall. Alexander pointed out that already millions of dollars of research money has left Louisiana and landed in the pockets of other schools with a more stable immediate future. Enrollment is down and the number of TOPS eligible students touring state schools is down 25 per cent. All of this in turn is leading to professors and professionals alike to flee the state for fear of their positions being eliminated. People are fleeing the ''lack of demand" for top notch professors, medical specialists and those who do buisiness with our state's colleges Alexander explained.
