LSU Baseball Coach Paul Mainieri predicted low scoring games in their series versus 9th ranked Texas A&M and that’s what we got last night as the Tigers rallied with single runs in the seventh and eighth innings for a two to one victory.

Starter Zack Hess shook off some of his early season issues, and came out throwing gas against the Aggies. Hess only gave up 5 hits and one run in six innings of work. He had five strike outs on the night as well.

Offensively, LSU tied the game in the seventh inning, as Texas A&M's right fielder misjudged a fly ball, which allowed Brandt Broussard to round the bases. In the eighth inning, Josh Smith launched his fourth home run of the season for a two to one lead.

Pitcher Devin Fontenot recorded the final five outs for the win.

The two teams will play a doubleheader today, starting at 2pm, and it can be heard on 1130AM, 1130 The Tiger (KWKH) across Shreveport and Bossier.
