LSU’s Javonte Smart Cleared to Play Ahead of the SEC Tournament

Javonte Smart is back with the LSU Tigers as they begin play in the SEC tournament.

Smart's suspension came after his name was mentioned in the now-infamous Will Wade FBI wiretap. Will Wade's suspension, whoever, is still in affect.

On the tape, head coach Will Wade was heard speaking with a recruiting middleman, where the two discussed a strong offer for Smart when he was still at Scotlandville High School.

LSU released a statement following an internal joint investigation, announcing that Smart was cleared to return to the team immediately, ahead of the SEC tournament. After investigating with the NCAA, LSU and the NCAA decided that Smart had done nothing wrong, and commended his cooperation during the investigation.
