A Shreveport man has been jailed following a drive by shooting in the Cherokee Park neighborhood.

On December 1, 2020 at just before 9:00 p.m., Shreveport Police responded to the 700 block Tecumseh Trail relative to a shooting. Officers located an adult female victim who told them that her family’s residence had just been shot at and struck multiple times. The vehicle in the driveway had also been hit multiple times. The suspect was last seen driving away in a white Toyota Camry.

Violent Crimes detectives were summoned to the scene and began their investigation. After collecting evidence and statements, investigators were confidently able to develop Jahiem Kemp (01/22/2002) as the alleged suspect in this drive-by shooting.

Detectives were able to locate Kemp at a residence in the 4100 block of Fairfax Avenue and arrest him from there. The Toyota Camry used in the crime was also located at this residence. Following an interview with investigators, Kemp was charged with Aggravated Criminal Property Damage and one count of Illegal use of a Weapon. He was booked into the Shreveport City Jail. The motive for this drive-by shooting is still unknown.
