Alfre Woodard stands out as Mariah Dillard in the latest Season 2 trailer of Netflix and Marvel's Luke Cage.

The clip, released Tuesday, features Woodard, who has portrayed Mariah Dillard, a Harlem politician moonlighting as a crime lord, in the series.

Dillard, who tormented Luke Cage (Mike Colter) as he used his invincibility super powers to protect Harlem from evil, barely survived last season, and the latest trailer shows she's back with a vengeance.

She appears willing to do whatever she thinks it takes to improve Harlem.

"You don't need to be bulletproof to be a superhero," Woodard says in the trailer. "Black women have always had superpowers to turn pain into progress. Harlem does not need a hero. It needs a queen."

The trailer features the hip-hop song "Ready or Not" by the Fugees.

Woodard's role builds on another threat that Luke Cage will face this season from an enemy who actually has bulletproof skin like him, known as John "Bushmaster" McIver (Mustafa Shakir).

The series based on one of Marvel Comics' first black superheroes returns to Netflix June 22.

In addition to Woodard, other Season 1 regulars returning include Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple and Simone Missick as Misty Knight.

Season 2 will also feature Rosewood actress Gabrielle Dennis and Theo Rossi as Shades.
