UPDATE: The victim in this morning's house fire has been preliminarily identified as 57-year-old Gladys Greathouse. The Caddo Coroner's Office says an autopsy has been ordered.

The fire and death remain under investigation.

ORIGINAL STORY:  A woman is found dead inside a burning Shreveport home.

Shreveport firefighters were called to a home in the 3600 block of Sanders Street just after 8:15 a.m. They arrived a minute later to find the single-story, wood-frame house with light smoke visible from the front.

While they were extinguishing the flames, firefighters found a deceased woman in the bedroom. They had the blaze under control shortly after 8:30.

As a precaution, SFD investigators asked for assistance from Shreveport homicide and crime scene detectives. At this point, they don't believe foul play was involved in the victim's death.

Estimated damage to the home was around $30,000. The origin and cause of the fire remain under investigation. The woman's body has been sent to the Caddo Parish Coroner's Office to determine a cause of death.

The victim's name has not been released pending notification of family. This is Shreveport's second fire fatality of 2016.
