The cleanup of Louisiana in the aftermath of Hurricane Laura has begun. And who among us is not shocked by the devastation wrought upon our neighbors in the southern part of our state? From Cameron to Lake Charles and even northward to Alexandria and even the Shreveport, Bossier City area, the repair and restoration of our communities will be lengthy and certainly, expensive.

But, in one major way, the havoc wrought by Laura was extremely limited. Injuries and fatalities caused by the rapidly moving storm were extremely limited.

So, as we begin to rebuild - and give thanks for the safety of our loved ones, we also look back at Louisiana's history of hurricanes, especially the most disastrous.
