NASA Astronaut is Accused of Committing First Crime in Space

NASA astronauts have been responsible for a lot of historic firsts.  Now, it looks like one of the few to slip the surly bonds of Earth may be responsible for committing the first crime in space.

According to Time magazine, NASA astronaut Anne McClain is being accused of committing identity theft by her former partner, former Air Force Intelligence officer Summer Worden. The two separated last year, but an ongoing parental dispute over Worden's son still rages on.

Now the Federal Trade Commission and NASA’s Office of Inspector General are looking into allegations that McClain accessed Worden's bank account from computer's on the International Space Station in order to "spy" on her partner's finances.

The decorated West Point graduate and lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army, who joined NASA in 2013, was off on a six-month space mission when the alleged crime took place.  McClain's lawyer claims she was just making sure that the family's finances were in order.
