Multiple law enforcement agencies across South Louisiana were involved in the pursuit and eventual arrest of a Pineville man early Thursday morning.  39-year-old Douglas Ray Mayo is now being held on multiple charges following the incident which began late Wednesday night in Alexandria.

Alexandria police reported that at approximately 11:30 PM they attempted to stop a vehicle that was believed to be stolen. The driver of that vehicle refused to stop. He then lead officers in a pursuit down U.S. Highway 165.

The pursuit came to an end in Allen Parish when State Troopers and members of the Kinder Police Department deployed spike strips across the roadway. The spike strips deflated the tires on the vehicle effectively ending the pursuit.

Alexandria Police later confirmed that the vehicle, a 2006 Honda Ridgeline, was involved in a carjacking with the use of a firearm in that city.

Mayo is currently facing charges of illegal possession of stolen things, aggravated flight from an officer, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, carrying a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of stolen things.
