I totally sign onto this concept.  I know, I'm a guy and its odd, but I've tried it, and studies show a sure-fire way to put you in a good mood --> go the mall!

Here's the skinny:  "Retail therapy:  A strategic effort to improve mood", published in the Journal of Psychology and Marketing, conducted hundreds of interviews with shoppers about their buying habits, moods and regrettable purchases, and found that 62% said they had bought something to cheer themselves up while 28% said they had indulged as a form of celebration--with no negative consequences.

That is, granted you have the cash flow to support such forms of therapy ;)
