Dallas Company Pitches Big Plan for Fairgrounds Field Property in Shreveport
A big plan is being considered for the property where Fairgrounds Field is located.
Several sources have told KEEL News about a meeting held this week to talk about a big plan for that area. KTAL is reporting a company called REV Entertainment is considering a proposal to build and manage a multi-million dollar mixed-use facility in Shreveport.
What Does REV Entertainment Do?
The Dallas-based company currently manages Globe Life Field, the home of the Texas Rangers and the historic Choctaw Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The Choctaw facility is used for the XFL Dallas Renegades and the North Texas Soccer Club which is the reserve team for FC Dallas.
REV Entertainment is looking at the Shreveport site for a possible facility that can be used for soccer and baseball games. This deal also includes management of Independence Stadium.
REV Entertainment Says on the Company Website:
Through our unique and wide-ranging services, we create meaningful experiences and memories while driving content and revenue.
This deal does depend on the demolition of Fairgrounds Field which has been halted because of concerns about bat guano at the old ball park. A court hearing on a temporary restraining order is scheduled for Friday.
Shreveport city leaders are planning to hold a news conference on Monday to discuss the proposed deal with Rev Entertainment.
No information has been released about the price tag on this proposed complex. The city of Shreveport owns all of the property surrounding Fairgrounds Field.
There has also been some discussion about a possible hotel at the site, but no information about that idea has been disclosed at this early stage of the proposal.
The city is spending about $500,000 dollars to tear down the old Fairgrounds Field.
