Florida residents are dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Ian which roared ashore near Fort Myers, Florida overnight. Millions of residents are feeling the brunt of the storm and are left to deal with cleanup and loss of power and other necessities.
The power grid across Central Florida have been hit hard. More than 2 million people have been left without power. This storm knocked down power lines and trees throughout the region. The are also got 12 to 18 inches of rain as this storm moved across the area. Residents are still dealing with strong storms as Ian moves through.
Supplies have been hard to come by in many areas in Florida and local folks are stepping in to provide much needed supplies. If you would like to chip in and help our neighbors in the Sunshine State, you can drop off supplies this week in Shreveport.

The Shreveport Volunteer Network is now collecting supplies at the warehouse at Summer Grove Baptist Church (on the backside at the old Dillard's department store). This is at 3132 at Jewella in southwest Shreveport.

Drop off times through the end of this week are 6-8pm and Saturday 8am-1pm. Crews from the local group will be traveling to Florida to bring these supplies to those in need.
