Shreveport Braces for Possible Severe Weather

Tornado Watch has been issued for Shreveport area until 6pm.

According to the National Weather Service Shreveport, you might need to be ready for severe weather heading our way, including thunderstorms, strong winds, and possibly even hail.  You can expect conditions to decline this afternoon, with the most severe arriving around 3P.

The storms, originating around Waco, are moving Northeast up through the ArkLaTex, continuing into Arkansas, where residents are currently being evacuated due to flooding.  Flooding was also reported in Oklahoma, Kansas, and Missouri.  Police are reporting damage in at least two communities in Oklahoma and Texas.

The Weather Channel has the Arklatex listed as TORCON 3.  TORCON stands for Tornado Condition Index. A specific region is given a number on a scale of 1-10, with higher numbers indicating a higher risk of a tornado within 50 miles of the given location.  

After this weather system moves through, the Arklatex is looking at several days of above average temperatures and humidity.  We can expect highs in the 90's through the Mother's Day weekend, possibly even setting new record temperatures.
