Unfortunately, the holidays are a time when a lot of people tend to overindulge in alcohol. It's been a long, hard year and most of us a ready to for the holidays because not only are we excited about Christmas, we're happy to be done with 2020. Remember, it's never okay to drink and drive. Make sure before you start your celebrations that you have a sober driver lined up or a ridesharing app ready to go on your phone.

With that being said, the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office is stepping up to increase DWI patrols during the holidays. The campaign is a concerted effort to get impaired drivers off our roads and protect Louisiana families from the danger of drunk drivers. The extra patrols will run through January 2nd, 2021, as a part of the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over event and law enforcement will show zero tolerance for drunk or drugged driving.

The funds to conduct the extra DWI patrols are thanks to the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission for DWI Enforcement.

Caddo Parish Sheriff Steve Prator says, “Drunk driving is unacceptable, and it takes lives, including those of innocent people. The holidays should be enjoyable for friends and family, so if you plan to drink, make arrangements for a ride home. It’s that simple.”
