Sheriff Says Storm "Could Go Straight Through Shreveport"

Caddo Parish Sheriff Steve Prator says Tropical Storm Harvey is headed in our direction. The Sheriff says the storm "could go straight through Shreveport". The Sheriff says right now, forecasters are projecting we will get 4 to 6 inches of rain over the next five days.

He says the shelter at the old Sams Club store on Jewella is on standby to be used in case it is needed. He also says 8 prisoners from the Caddo Correction Center are being used to help fill sandbags which are being given out on Monty Street in North Shreveport and on Mansfield Road for Shreveport residents.

Bossier City and Parish are also making sandbags available to families who need them.

Shreveport at the city facility at Mansfield Rd. and Claiborne Ave.

In preparation for Tropical Storm Harvey, the City of Shreveport will have sandbags available from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, at its Streets and Drainage Yard, located at 3825 Mansfield Road at Claiborne Avenue.

Caddo Parish: Department of Fleet Services 1701 Monty Street
