The Shreveport City Council is considering a measure to change the hours for bars and nightclubs in the city.

Councilman Jerry Bowman is proposing an ordinance to require the businesses outside of the downtown district to close at 2am.

What Does this Measure Say?

The retail dealer is hereby permitted to sell, serve, handle or dispense alcohol beverages with high and/or low content for on-premises consumption within the city between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 2:00 a.m. on any day of the week.

The retail dealer is hereby prohibited to sell, serve, handle or dispense alcohol beverages with high and/or low alcoholic content for on-premises consumption within the city between the hours of 2:01 a.m. and 5:59 a.m. on any day of the week.

This includes, but is not limited to, bars and cocktail lounges.

What Parts of the City Are Not Included in this Change?

This prohibition is applicable to all city zoning districts except businesses in downtown Shreveport. Downtown clubs will still be able to remain open until 6am.
