A suspect is being treated for injuries after a shootout with Shreveport Police.
A call came in to Shreveport Police at around 11pm last night (12/21/21) about a burglary in progress at a residence in the Westwood Park area. Police arrived on the scene, and an altercation lead to gunfire from the suspect.
After a tense standoff, police were able to remove the suspect from the home. The suspect was suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg, as well as a nasty bite from a K-9 Officer. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment before he could be booked in to jail.
59-year-old Gary Sims has been charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder, home invasion and convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
No Officers were hurt in the incident.
