There's no doubt that the summer of 2022 is going to be a scorcher!  I say "is going to be" because, believe-it-or-not, summer doesn't officially arrive until June 21st!  Unfortunately, no one told Mother Nature.  We're already seeing triple-digit temperatures, and they're going to be around for a while!

Obviously, our saving grace is the beloved air conditioner.  Whether your cooler air is being pumped out by a central heat and air unit or a handy-dandy window unit, it's a pretty sure bet we'd be miserable through the summer months (let's be honest: Part of spring and fall, too) without it.  Just think about the folks who can't afford to keep theirs working correctly and the ones that can't afford one at all.  According to a report from KSLA, a significant portion of those folks are in danger.

Thankfully, a group of concerned citizens has stepped in to solve that issue.  The Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission has announced that they will be operating cooling and rehydration centers for area residents for at least 3 days a week at their headquarters located at 901 McNeil Street in Shreveport.  The goal is to provide a safe,  air-conditioned environment for folks who desperately need to cool down and rehydrate.  Reportedly, if temperatures in the area exceed 100 degrees for 3 straight days, the center would open for a 4th day.

Reportedly, the Shreveport Memorial Library has announced that residents are also welcome to stop in at any one of their locations to cool off as well.
