A swift water rescue team from the Shreveport Fire Department is on the east coast of the United States helping with rescue efforts.

Hurricane Florence continues to dump massive amounts of rain on the region. SFD Chief Scott Wolverton tells KEEL News the 13 member team is part of the Louisiana contingent put together by the State Fire Marshall to help save people who are trapped by high water.

Chief Wolverton says the Shreveport firefighters are working in South Carolina and will be concentrating their efforts in the town of Florence. The chief says this crew has been gone for 4 days of an 8 day mission, but he is aready working on sending replacements, as needed.
