At approximately 3:00 a.m. this morning, Shreveport Police responded to 5200 block of Greenwood Road, Central Storage regarding a break in and theft of a vehicle from the impound yard.Upon their arrival, officers discovered a 2005 white Ford Crown Victoria had been taken and driven through the locked gate, off the premises, causing major damage to the front gate.  Further investigation revealed a surveillance video showed a black male in a bright blue "hoodie" and black jeans walking around the perimeter, then jumping the fence, gaining access to the vehicle and driving off.

After further investigation, officers later determined the vehicle belonging to a Roderick Wallace, b/m, 2/6/89, had been impounded as the result of a pursuit and traffic stop which occurred on 9/9/11, in which an unknown suspect fled from police after crashing the vehicle in the 2800 block of Corbitt Street.  The vehicle was impounded at the Greenwood Road storage facility and approximately 16 hours later, Wallace came to Shreveport Police and filed a stolen report on the same vehicle.  Wallace was instructed he would have to speak with an Auto Theft Investigator before his vehicle could be released, but he left the police station never having spoken with any investigator.

The investigation concluded with Wallace being identified as the same suspect who fled from the traffic stop, stealing the vehicle from the storage facility, then driving it to his residence in the 2700 block of Murray Street.  Patrol officers located the vehicle and subsequently arrested Wallace without incident.

Roderick Wallace was booked in city jail for Hit and Run, Filing a False Report, Criminal Property Damage and Aggravated Flight from an Officer.  Additional charges may be added.
