The shooting that the majority of Shreveport-Bossier is talking about involves the death of 17-year-old Kip Lewis, a junior at Elysian Fields High School, who was laid to rest this morning. The 16-year-old shooting suspect in the Lewis case surrendered to authorities yesterday and is facing a charge of negligent homicide.

The second shooting that occurred along Clyde Fant Parkway during the Krewe of Gemini Mardi Gras parade Saturday, February 18, 2023, happened on Odom Street. Shreveport Police responded at 6:15 pm, finding a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body. The victim was transferred to a local hospital and is expected to recover.
