Deer season for those hunting with firearms starts Saturday, October 28, 2017 locally and it's time for hunters to sight in their rifles!

To make things easier for hunters, the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office is opening their shooting range three different weekends in October. Those dates are Saturday, October 7th, 14th and 21st from 8am to 4:30pm.

This free service will be available on all 12 shooting lanes at the BPSO range at 2955 Old Plain Dealing Road in Plain Dealing, LA. Targets are placed at 100, 200, 300 and 400 yards. Basic targets will be provided, but you might want to bring your own paper targets. Obviously, you'll need to bring your own firearm and ammunition and adhere to all of the posted safety guidelines. Ear and eye protect will be available, but I always bring my own.  According to BPSO Public Information Officer Lt. Bill Davis, you don't need to reserve a space or time, but I'm guess you might have to wait a bit the later you go in the month.

Good luck and remember me when you can't fit it all in your deep freezer!
