SPD Officer Pleads Guilty, Resigns

William McIntire has plead guilty to physically abusing a suspect in Shreveport Police Custody. McIntire was apart of a group of officers who arrested Lamario Hobbs, a robbery suspect, back on August 29th.

Following a brief chase, Hobbs was taken into custody. After being handcuffed and subdued, McIntire kicked Hobbs in the face, causing Hobbs to suffer a swollen eye. Hobbs was subdued and not resisting at the time of the incident. McIntire was placed on leave for his actions. Hobbs is still awaiting trial for the robbery charges.

McIntire appeared in Caddo Court today (October 3rd 2019) where he plead guilty to simple battery. According to the Caddo District Attorney's Office, McIntire was "sentenced to six months in the parish jail, suspended, and was placed on six months of supervised probation contingent on his immediate resignation from the force. In addition, he also was ordered to enroll in and complete an anger-management course."

McIntire had been a member of the Shreveport Police Department since 2012.

A Shreveport Police officer accused of physical abuse of a suspect in custody pleaded guilty to simple battery in Caddo District Court Thursday, October 3, 2019.

William McIntire, 33, pleaded guilty before Caddo District Judge Katherine Dorroh and was sentenced to six months in the parish jail, suspended, and was placed on six months of supervised probation contingent on his immediate resignation from the force. In addition, he also was ordered to enroll in and complete an anger-management course.

The battery charge arose out of an August 29, 2019, arrest of Lamario Hobbs, a suspect in a robbery. After the robbery victim reported the crime to police, a male matching the description was located by McIntire and other SPD officers. After a short foot pursuit, Hobbs was detained.

Hobbs allegedly was kicked in the face by McIntire after Hobbs was subdued, not resisting and in custody. Hobbs suffered a swollen eye. He was treated at the hospital and then released to the jail where he remains awaiting trial in connection with the simple robbery charge.

McIntire, who was hired by SPD in July 2012, was prosecuted by First Assistant District Attorney Laura Fulco. He was defended by Eron Brainard.
