One of the largest annual events in the State of Texas has canceled over concerns about the Coronavirus outbreak.

Events around the South By Southwest Arts & Technology Festival, or SXSW, drew over 400k people last year in Austin, Texas. But this year, none of those attendees will have an event to visit.

The City of Austin has canceled the SXSW for 2020, over the growing concern brought on by the Coronavirus. The release from SXSW read:

“We are devastated to share this news with you. The show must go on’ is in our DNA, and this is the first time in 34 years that the March event will not take place. We are now working through the ramifications of this unprecedented situation.”

The cancellation was brought on by Austin Mayor Steve Adler, who told reporters:

"I've gone ahead and declared a local disaster in the city, and associated with that have issued an order that effectively cancels South by Southwest this year"
