Following a major relocation from PBS to HBO, Sesame Street is plotting another big move: This time to a theater near you. Warner Bros. is developing a feature-length, live-action film based on the venerable children’s educational series. Sure, it’s an easy mark for a typical nostalgia cash-in, but it’s also hard to complain about a Sesame Street movie given everything that the series stands for — and in the wake of our recent election, we could probably use a few sunny days.

Sesame Street fans were taken aback to learn that the series had more or less done away with Luis the fix-it man, Bob the music teacher, and Gordon the science teacher, cutting actors Emilio Delgado, Bob McGrath, and Roscoe Orman. Now, Sesame CEO Jeff Dunn steps in to clarify the matter, noting that while the actors aren’t fired altogether, they won’t be seen in the current season.

At some point, we’re not sure when, Sesame Street stopped being a low-key educational children’s program and started being an educational children’s program that finds time to create internet-friendly parodies of whatever pop culture event is huge in a given week. So yeah, of course the show has made an Avengers-themed sketch and of course it’s called The Aveggies: Age of Bon Bon and of course it recasts Cookie Monster as the Hulk.
