Will Teresa Giudice Divorce Joe Giudice If He’s Deported?
Teresa Giudice and Joe Giudice could be done for good after his prison sentence.
People broke the news that Teresa, 46, reportedly said during the Real Housewives of New Jersey reunion that she and her husband will divorce if he's deported back to Italy. Joe is currently serving the final months of a 41-month prison sentence for fraud.
"People recently learned that during the season nine taping of The Real Housewives of New Jersey reunion show, Teresa dropped a bomb. She said that if in fact Joe was deported to Italy at the end of his 41-month prison sentence, that they would 'go their separate ways,'" editor Emily Strohm said during an appearance on Good Morning America.
Joe, 46, pleaded guilty to bankruptcy fraud and failing to pay taxes on $200,000 worth of income in 2014. He's set to be released from prison in March 2019. In October 2018, a judge ruled that Joe, who immigrated to America during his childhood, would be deported after his release.
Teresa spoke with Good Morning America after the judge handed down the decision, saying she didn't see it coming. She did not say, at the time, whether she would follow him to Italy or end her marriage.
"I never thought I'd be in this position," she said. "I have to stay strong, I have four beautiful daughters and they need their mommy."
She added that the news was "heartbreaking" and "very sad." Her girls were said to be struggling with it the most.
"The girls are really upset. You know, it's hard for them," Teresa said.
In previous interviews, Teresa suggested that she was considering going to Italy with Joe. It appears, however, that she's had a change of heart. She is said to have discussed this decision with Joe and "he understood."
"Uprooting the entire family to move to Italy would certainly be disruptive and disturbing for their daughter," Strohm said.
