This year's Walk-On's Independence Bowl will be on Thursday, December 27th at 12:30pm, and tickets are available now.

The Independence Bowl is the 11th longest running bowl game in all of college football, and continues to be the "bowl that shouldn't exist". What does that mean? Well, most of your college bowl games are actually owned by ESPN now, meaning a mega company is behind almost all of this year's bowl game. But the Indy Bowl is still locally owned and operated. As much as the big boys might try to make the Indy Bowl go away, they're still here, alive and kicking.

This year's Walk-On's Independence Bowl will feature Duke and Temple.

Duke -

The joke for a couple weeks has been "David Cutcliffe loves Shreveport". Which
stems from his tenure at Ole Miss, where he won three Independence Bowls between 1998 and 2002. One of those games is remembered for the appearance of Eli Manning. But, now he's a Duke, a small private school on the east coast. Do their fans travel? Will their fans watch on TV? Those questions will need to be answered.

Temple -

Well, they have a football team. Temple is 8-4 on the year, and do have some signature wins this year. They've beaten Houston, Cincinnati, and Maryland. But Temple doesn't carry a large fan base for traveling fans, or a big TV audience. The team has never been a strong college football program nationally. In fact, there's been a lot of talk in Philly about the lack of interest in the Owls program for the last few years.

With the match up, it will be very interesting to see what kind of attendance can be drawn from Philadelphia and North Carolina.
