When I was young the most common complaint from my parents was "Turn That Music Down!".  I was usually given about two verbal commands and then my parents would result to a physical solution. No they didn't beat me, they just came into my room and unplugged my radio. If I plugged it back in, then it was removed from my room. Usually for weeks at a time.

Today's parents face another electronic demon that is competing for the space in between your child's ears. It's the smartphone, the tablet, the Internet, the Snapchat, the Facebook and even The Google.  It wouldn't be a problem if your kids actually jumped off their electronic devices when you asked them to do so. Since they don't, I have discovered an App for your phone that will make sure your wishes are followed to the letter.

First, let me be very transparent here. This App cost $99.I know that's a lot of money and I am not getting any remuneration from the creators of this App. I just think that it is a small price to pay to insure that your child is sleeping, doing homework, not conversing with friends until late at night, or visiting web sites that would make a sailor blush.

This App, Circle with Disney, allows you, the parent, to see every electronic device that is logged into your network. It also allows you to set parameters for time spent online, chatting with friends, and there is even an option to say "lights out" and totally disable the device until you decide it needs to be turned on again. You don't even have to be at home to do it.

Parenting is different in 2016 than it was in 1970. While the basics of good parenting have remained the same, the challenges of new technology have made good parenting harder to do. Families that I know that have purchased this App have reported nothing but good things because of it.

The great Fred Rogers, Mr. Rogers Neighborhood Fred Rogers, said " Children need loving limits". I think that applies to babies, toddlers, kids, pre-teens, and especially teenagers. If you're finding your children spending too much time online and you feel it's interfering with the way you want your children to behave. This might just be an App for you to consider.
