If you were around for the annoyance of the Cabbage Patch Kids, you may recall the Garbage Pail Kids. This was the Anti-Cabbage Patch Kids; the cult following was everything that parents hated and was not P.C. by any stretch of the imagination.

If you recall, we had friends like "Nicky Hickey", "Sidney Kidney", "Snotty Suzie", "Smelly Kelly". They started off as a Topps trading cards, then they had their own comic book series.  About this time, Topps were then sued by Cabbage Patch makers Coleco for infringing on their trademark and the case was later settled out of court.

Then in 1987, Mackenzie Astin starred in the first movie starring the Garbage Pail Kids. For those who saw it, we all walked away thinking, wow, this was bad.

But what do you expect from a movie series based on making fun of a popular toy?

Well, Michael Eisner (the former head of Disney) has authorized a re-boot of the Garbage Pail Kids series, after his company bought the trading card company Topps, then started a Flash-back series of the Garbage Pail Kids cards.

We may be a  year or so before we see this movie, but if you want to see how high they have to raise the bar, here is the trailer for the original movie.
