The Krewe of Barkus and Meoux Name 2018 Pet Royalty
Rotolo's Pizza on E. 70th in Shreveport went to the dogs yesterday (Sunday, January 21, 2018) when the Krewe of Barkus and Meoux held their annual fundraiser, the Pet Royalty Raffle![/caption]
In true Louisiana fashion, folks were able to stuff the ballot box to give their pets the chance to reign as a royal over the Barkus and Meoux Annual Mardi Gras Pet Parade Sunday, February 4, 2018! Each entry was $1 and the fundraiser was the most successful to date, raising over $2,000.
Every dollar raised will support Barkus and Meoux's mission over the coming year 'to develop, foster and promote programs to benefit all animals, as well as promote responsible pet ownership.' This is achieved through programs which include: emergency vet assistance, supporting area shelters and rescues, their feral cat program, their spay and neuter program and the Barksdale Air Force Base Retired K9 Fund.

Without further ado, here are this year's royals!
King: Sparky
Queen: Roxy
Duke: Pee-Wee
Duke: Bilbo
Duchess: Cherry
Duchess: Allie Gator
Prince: Cajun
Princess: Kitsa
Of course, I was tickled pink to have our newest family member drawn as the 'Prince' of Barkus and Meoux! We adopted Cajun in November from Bossier City Animal Control and he went from skinny shelter dog to a robust royal in three short months! Thank you so much to everyone who came out to support Barkus and Meoux and all they do in our community!
