The Saints haven't started the preseason at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome since the 2013 season. This year will be different, though.

The Saints will kick off the preseason at home against the Minnesota Vikings. The next two games will be on the road, before finishing the preseason at home for the fourth year in a row.

After the Vikings, they'll travel to play the Chargers followed by the Jets, and then back home to play the Dolphins.

The second preseason game will see the Saints traveling to Los Angeles to take on the Chargers on Sunday August 18th at 3pm. This will be one of eight nationally televised preseason games.

The other preseason games don't have specific dates yet. However, the potential dates are as follows: Vikings at Saints (Aug. 8-12); Saints at Jets (Aug. 22-25); and Dolphins at Saints (Aug. 29 or 30).

This will be the fourth year in a row the Saints meet the Chargers in preseason. When they travel to play the Jets, it will be the first time the two teams have met in non-postseason play since 2004.

When they come home to play the Dolphins, this will be the fourth year in a row they play the preseason finale in the Dome.

The Saints have known their regular season opponents since the end of the last season in January, although the dates and times haven't been set yet. That is usually announced in the third week of April (just before the draft).

Here's what we do know: The Saints will take on their NFC division competitors twice each in Atlanta, Carolina and Tampa Bay.

The home games will see the Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers, Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts and Dallas Cowboys coming to the Dome. While the Saints will travel to play the Tennessee Titans, Seattle Seahawks, Chicago Bears, the Los Angeles Rams and Jacksonville Jaguars.
