I have a weakness. Some might call it a problem. I call it my Kryptonite.

And someone put it in our kitchen.

In the kitchen/break room here at the Townsquare Media Complex is a table. It is common knowledge that anything set upon that table is free game for anyone that wants to partake. Sometimes it's leftover birthday cake (we'll get back to that in a minute), or donuts, but today...it was that white paper bag with the little plastic take-away bowl beside it.

Someone brought chips and salsa. And my workday came to a screeching halt.

I don't know what it is about that inviting little snack, but I cannot help myself. It's a regular occurrence here for someone to leave chips and salsa, but every time I feel as though some great gift has been bestowed upon us by the gods, and I must cram as much of it into my mouth as I can.

I don't go all hog wild and just start shoveling chips in my mouth while drinking the salsa. I'm not an animal. I leave that for at-home-alone-time. But I do find myself making up reasons to shirk my responsibilities and go back to the break room.

Oh...my coffee needs to be refreshed.
Oh...I gotta go check in with HR...who's office is right next to the kitchen.
Oh...let's go see if there is anything fresh in the vending machine.

ALL RUSES! Planned fakery, I tell you. All so I can have two or three or twenty more crispy tortilla chips smothered with cilantro spiked nectar.

"Why don't you just take it back to the studio with you?" you may ask.

#1 - We aren't allowed to eat around the expensive equipment.
#2 - I want them to watch me eat more than my fair share. THIS IS MY CHIPS AND SALSA NOW!! WATCH ME DOUBLE DIP! BOW TO ME!!!

See, I told you it was a problem.

But, I'm sure I'm not the only one. Cake, for example, is a force to be reckoned with in office food dynamics. If you don't believe me, watch this clip of comedian Jim Gaffigan talk about cake, and the powers it can wield over an office.

And while you're watching that, I gotta go back to the kitchen...to check on some stuff.
