The Amazon Robotics Fulfillment Center in Shreveport is quickly moving forward. The North Louisiana Economic Partnership recently released the latest drone footage to show the amazing the progress being made on the site.

Top level Amazon corporate officials, along with Governor John Bel Edwards and a bevy of local public officials announced the plans for construction of the $200 million robotic fulfilment center just about four months ago.

The center, located in north Shreveport near Caddo Correctional Center and Twelve Mile Bayou, has access to I-20, I-220 and I-49. It will be the largest of seven Amazon facilities in Louisiana. The 650,000 square foot, multi-story building will house contemporary robotics technology, inventory and shipping operation. Amazon employees will pack and ship smaller customer orders, such as books, toys, electronics and other household items.

At the time of the announcement, the Governor and Shreveport Mayor Adrian Perkins said the new Amazon facility will bring in roughly 1,000 direct jobs and about 1,800 indirect ones. The hiring of most employees for Amazon’s Shreveport fulfillment center will begin in the summer of 2022 and center is expected to be completely operational a few months after hiring begins.

Rumors of the Amazon site began as early as February, when documents and permits mentioning a "Project Cosmeaux" began to leak to local media. Originally, those documents mentioned an Indianapolis, Indiana development firm, Duke Realty, a company with close ties to the mail-order retail giant.
